Linpacs very own bionic woman Sarah Hughes took part in the recent Malvern Challenge, a 12 mile hike around the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire to raise money for ‘Help for Heroes’.
Sarah who has undergone 3 hip replacements – one was just 3 months ago – hiked a slightly adjusted route of 7 miles and gallantly raised £120 toward this worthy charity.
A thanks in Sarahs own words;
“I did it! The weather was fantastic, the views breathtaking and I stroked 14 dogs during the walk. I enjoyed every moment except the descent, which was quite frankly so painful that at one point I was tempted to throw myself down the hill and trust to the gods that I got there in one piece!
Thank you to my husband Darrann who helped me through the hard times by telling me to take a ‘Man Up’ pill and get on with it! To my support team Andy and Teresa; Teresa started talking after the first step and stopped on the last (taking a short rest for lunch) which certainly distracted me from the pain! And my trainers,that were comfortable during the whole walk and are now going into retirement!
Thank you all for sponsoring me”
Well done Sarah!
