Wandsworth Borough Council ‘Old bins for new’ LEAFIELD Recycle - 17.1.2012

Wandsworth Borough Council undertook some extreme recycling when they sent some old unused recycling banks to Leafield Environmental who turned them back into a usable product.

Leafield removed several old unused recycling banks and chipped them down to reusable plastic. The plastic was then re-moulded to form new slimline water tanks. These were installed in the Wandsworth Borough to collect rainwater for plant watering.
A recycling scheme with a three-fold environmental impact!
1 – Old unused recycling banks were not just left to degrade or go to landfill, they were chipped into raw material.
2 – New slimline water tanks made with recycled plastic from old products
3 – Rainwater is collected and saved for plant watering instead of using mains water.
If you have some old plastic bins that need upgrading, call 01225 816500 for more information in our old for new scheme.
